2nd NCD Youth Conference
Date: 29th August – 1st September 2022 (travel days excluded)
Location: Ljubljana, Slovenia
Themes: Health Literacy in the Context of NCDs
Working language: English
Idea and aims
YHO works towards health and wellbeing of young people, through promotion of healthy lifestyles and prevention of non-communicable diseases, including mental health and environmental health. It develops and supports evidence-based and effective policies to assure health-promoting environments for young people.
The conference aims to improve participants’ level of health literacy and improve their competencies for working in this field.
The impact of the conference is expected at several levels:
- Participants will improve their level of health literacy and have opportunities to improve their competences in the field of youth health.
- They will be able to utilize these competencies in their professional lives as they will be empowered to carry out health literacy activities for young people (such as research, prevention programs and health promotion projects, advocacy campaigns).
- The acquired competences will benefit them in their private lives, as they will be better informed about a healthy lifestyle, how to introduce it into their lives and environment and reduce the risks of developing NCDs.
- The conference will also be a practical example of how to organize a "healthy event", which they can incorporate into their work at home.
- The conference will have a significant impact on strengthening the professional network among participants, which is often insufficient. Participants will thus gain important connections from the youth and public health sectors, which will help them to set up further activities in their local environment.
