UNGA Side Event - The algorithm will guide you now?

Building on the HLPF outcomes and youth consultations like WHO’s 1.8 Billion Campaign, this dialogue centres youth voices on mental health, innovation, and the growing role of emerging technologies.

Digital technologies offer new ways to support youth mental health and NCD advice and literacy, especially in contexts where traditional systems are inaccessible or unresponsive. How can we build new innovations centred on the voices and perspectives of young people globally?

To engage with this dilemma, on September 26, join us for The Algorithm will guide you now? Youth, Advice, AI and Wellbeing.

The event will follow a deliberative democracy model called Deliberative Polling: participants will engage in moderated small group discussions, pose questions, agreed to within their small groups, to an expert Q&A panel, and complete pre- and post-deliberation surveys. Rather than seeking consensus, the aim is to expose people to different perspectives and surface diverse insights that can help build on the consensus of the 4th HLM on NCDs and mental health, and broaden the work of the public and private sectors.

This event is co-hosted by Orygen, IPSA, Act4Food, AfricaPHSN, Digital Transformations for Health Lab (DTH-Lab), Universities Allied for Essential Medicines (UAEM), Climate Cardinals, Commonwealth Youth Health Network (CYHN), KIDsforSDGs, IFMSA, Young Professionals Chronic Disease Network, International Youth Health Organization (YHO), Grassroot Soccer Inc. (GRS), UN Youth Office, the WHO Youth Council and the Stanford Deliberative Democracy Lab.
