Training on Mental Health for Working with Youth

The workshop will consist of several pillars of sessions: mental health 101 (where participants will learn about the symptoms of common mental health disorders amongst youth), fighting stigma (raising awareness on correct terminology, methodology, social media engagement, etc.), and useful tools and methods for youth workers when working with youth that is facing difficulties with their mental health (psychological first aid, suicide prevention simulation, burnout prevention, how to help a person struggling with a specific mental health disorders) and new developments in the field of mental health of youth (emerging disorders, new digital solutions, etc.) The goal of the event is to empower and educate youth workers, and bring mental health interventions closer to them
Idea and aims
YHO works towards health and wellbeing of young people, through promotion of healthy lifestyles and prevention of non-communicable diseases, including mental health and environmental health. It develops and supports evidence-based and effective policies to assure health-promoting environments for young people.
The objectives are:

- Raise interest among young people and youth organizations about mental health.
- Promote evidence-based projects and exchange knowledge of good practices when working with youth that is facing difficulties with their mental health;
- Equip the participants with the necessary skills and capacities in order to effectively work on the field of mental health;
- Provide participants with the necessary tools to fight stigma in the mental health field;
- Provide the necessary tools and training for participants to be able to learn and recognize the symptoms of common mental health disorders;
- Empower the participants to effectively take care of their own mental health;
- Give participants the opportunity to network with stakeholders, mental health professionals, and organizations working on the same topics.

Travel and Accomodation Costs
As the participation fee, also the accommodation and meal costs are funded by the European Youth Foundation project. We will provide more detailed information about accommodation later in the process.
Travel costs are co-funded – we can cover costs up to a specific amount depending on the distance of your residence from the venue, additional costs should be covered by participants.

Designated arrival and departure days are the 14th and the 19th of November 2023 respectively.
Prague is very well connected by airports and trains and therefore allows many options for travel. Look at flights to Prague Airport.
If possible, please consider more environmentally friendly travel options such as trains or buses as well.
Selection process and confirmation of attendance
The spots for the event are limited and participants will be accepted, based on a rolling “first come-first serve” basis and quality of application.
Selected participants will receive the confirmation by email with a Welcome Pack and other crucial information in a few working days after the application has been submitted. Your place at the advocacy school will be guaranteed after the booked tickets confirmation.
