Dear young changemakers,

We are excited to invite you to the 2nd International Youth Climate Summit (IYCS), taking place in Koper, Slovenia, from 6 to 7 December 2024.

The International Youth Health Organization (YHO) is offering a limited number of fully funded spots to young participants from member organizations from YHO and Youth and Environment Europe (YEE). This includes travel, food, and accommodation—you’ll only need to contribute a small participation fee of 50 EUR. Spots are limited, so don’t miss out!

The summit, part of the Sustainaware project, co-funded by the European Union, is a fantastic opportunity for young people to connect, share ideas, and take action on climate change and environmental health.

Who Can Attend?​

Young people aged 18–35, who are representatives of YHO/YEE member organizations and youth organizations interested in becoming members of YHO/YEE/Sustainaware are eligible to apply. 

To participate, please fill out the application form by 30 November, 23:59 CET

Requirements for participation

Geographical range: Preference will be given to individuals studying/living/working in countries in the EU.

Expertise: We are looking for highly motivated and proactive individuals with experience and a strong interest in public health, specifically mental health, advocacy and cross-sectoral collaboration. 

Age range: Preference will be given to individuals between 24 and 34 years of age.

Availability: Applicants should be able to participate at the event fully.

Over two activity-packed days, you will engage in interactive workshops, inspiring panel discussions, and networking opportunities with young leaders, experts, and organizations working in climate action, health, and environment fields. Expect to leave feeling empowered and ready to tackle climate challenges!

Two More Reasons to Attend and Extend:

1. Pre-Summit Conference Sustainable NGOs (5 December): Join an international online conference hosted by the Institute for Health and Environment (IZO), discussing innovative green initiatives. 

The conference will showcase innovative tools designed to empower organizations in driving green initiatives and embedding environmentally sustainable practices into their core operations. For more information, contact info@izo.si.

2. Hackathon for Change (7–8 December): After the summit, join a fully funded hackathon (food and accommodation) focused on environmental health and climate change, where you and other young changemakers can brainstorm, design, and propose innovative solutions to environmental and climate challenges. The hackathon will take place immediately after the 2nd International Youth Climate Summit, on the afternoon of 7 December and throughout 8 December.

Additional Information:

  • Accommodation: Provided from 5 to 7 December (or extended if attending the Hackathon or if there is no travel option available on 7 December.). Let us know before booking travel to confirm your travel plan!
  • Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner covered for 6 and 7 Dec.
  • Travel Reimbursement: Your travel expenses will be reimbursed within 90 days after receiving all your travel documents and invoices based on Erasmus+ rules (please refer to the distance calculator for exact amounts).

Getting There: Designated arrival and departure days are 5 and 7 December respectively. The best way to get to Koper is through Venice Marco Polo Airport, Venice Treviso Airport, Trieste Airport or Ljubljana International Airport (Brnik).
