Young People Successfully "Hacked" Climate Solutions

We have successfully concluded the Hack for Climate Action hackathon, held on December 7th and 8th at the Grand Hotel Bernardin in Portorož. This international event, aimed at finding innovative solutions to climate challenges, brought together young participants from Slovenia and various other countries and fields. Through multidisciplinary collaboration, they created creative and practical ideas.

Seven teams participated in the hackathon, developing project proposals under the guidance of mentors. The ideas were diverse and innovative, ranging from applications promoting low-carbon travel, self-sustaining greenhouses with elevated gardens, planting trees with children, to repurposing food waste in the hospitality sector as animal feed.

The winning team presented a two-year Erasmus+ project proposal focused on environmental conservation and empowering women in agriculture. Their project includes a series of workshops on environmental protection that will strengthen sustainable practices and promote the inclusion of women in rural areas.

The winning team will work on preparing and submitting the project, which will be presented by the International Youth Health Organization (YHO). In addition, they earned free participation in one of YHO’s future events and practical prizes provided by Slovenian companies.

We sincerely thank all participants for their collaboration and exceptional ideas, which will contribute to a better future!
