International Youth Health Organization was honored to participate at the annual technical meeting of the Member States focal point network for the WHO/EU Evidence into Action Alcohol Project (EVID-ACTION), which was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia on 9–10 October 2023, as it marked a significant step in advancing Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. Launched in December 2022 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Union (EU), EVID-ACTION aims to tackle alcohol-related harms across 30 European countries.
The key discussions encompassed policy implementation, where Member States deliberated on executing measures outlined in the European Framework for Action on Alcohol (2022–2025). The event also featured a valuable exchange of experiences, with representatives, sharing success stories of effective multi-sectoral cooperation on alcohol-related matters and strategies for raising awareness. Furthermore, discussions focused on future initiatives, as Member States and youth representatives contributed insights and feedback on upcoming EVID-ACTION initiatives, including the development of toolkits and communication frameworks, emphasizing a collaborative and forward-looking approach in the battle against alcohol-related harms.
