Advanced Youth School of Health Policy and Advocacy on Alcohol Control and Prevention

In light of high levels of alcohol harm, especially affecting European youth, YHO with Movendi International, Eurocare and with support from WHO European Region will be organizing a multi day workshop for youth, focusing on empowering young leaders  on the topic of Alcohol Policy Advocacy. This advanced edition of our original advocacy school will focus on bringing the youth  voices to European decision makers. Through this activity the participants will be able to build on their lobbying, advocacy and policy- writing skills, as well as putting them into action through organized meetings and dialogue with high-level stakeholders and decision makers in Brussels.

 

Activity is part of Yearly Work Plan funded by  European Youth Foundation.

Idea and aims

YHO works towards health and wellbeing of young people, through promotion of healthy lifestyles and prevention of non-communicable diseases, including mental health and environmental health. It develops and supports evidence-based and effective policies to assure health-promoting environments for young people.

The objectives of the activity are:

Travel and Accomodation Costs

As the participation fee, also the accommodation and meal costs are funded by the European Youth Foundation project. We will provide more detailed information about accommodation later in the process. 

Travel costs are co-funded – we can cover costs up to a specific amount depending on the distance of your residence from the venue, additional costs should be covered by participants. 

20-99 km – up to 20€

100-499 km – up to 180€

500-1999 km – up to 275€

2000 – 2999 km – up to 360€


Participation fee

The activity is supported by the European Youth Foundation  and therefore includes no participation fee for the participants coming from member organizations of YHO. Other participants’ fee is 20€ to confirm the spot on School.

Nearby airports

Designated arrival and departure days are the morning of the 9th and the afternoon of the 13th of October 2023 respectively.

Brussels is very well connected by airports and trains and therefore allows many options for travel. Look at flights to Brussels Zaventem or Charleroi. 

 If possible, please consider more environmentally friendly travel options such as trains or buses as well.

Selection process and confirmation of attendance

The spots for the event are limited and participants will be accepted, based on a rolling “first come-first serve” basis and quality of application.

Selected participants will receive the confirmation by email with a Welcome Pack and other crucial information in a few working days after the application has been submitted. Your place at the advocacy school will be guaranteed after the booked tickets confirmation.
