CALL FOR CANDIDATURES
The International Youth Health Organization launches the candidacy call for elections to the YHO bodies. The YHO is opening a call for open positions in YHO Board 2024 – 2026. Please find more information and requirements regarding the possible candidature of applicants who hold the Full Members’ support to Board and Monitoring Committee positions below.
Candidates should send the filled in application form found as an attachment to this call, together with their CV and motivation letter, to secretary.general@yho.network.
The deadline for submission of candidatures is 10th of December 2024, 23:59 CET.
The positions open for election are:
The Board (mandate 2024 – 2026):
President (1 position)
Regional Coordinator (2 positions) – if you are applying for one of these positions, please talk about your preferred region in your motivation letter
Free Board member (2 positions)
Eligibility criteria:
Only applicants who are members of or have obtained the support of organizations that hold the status of YHO Full Members are able to run for the positions announced in the call. Candidatures that are incomplete or received after the deadline will be deemed as invalid. The positions are not compatible with each other. A candidate can only run for one position in only one body of the organization. Every candidate needs to represent a full member organization. Only one representative per full member organization can be on the Board. Suspended members cannot propose candidates.
General requirements:
- Age between 18 and 35 years old,
- Upper intermediate knowledge of English (ability to speak in public, hold online meetings and produce official documents and emails),
- Knowledge about YHO and its past activities,
- Previous involvement in the youth health field,
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a youth organization (preferably international),
- Availability to check your inbox weekly, and to attend 2 – 4 physical meetings or YHO activities a year.
Specific job descriptions – Board:
The Board’s tasks are to (article 26.1. of the Constitution):
- Implement the YHO General Assembly’s decisions;
- Actively participate in international events and present the organization
- Prepare the programme and coordinate the work of the permanent organizational structures;
- Oversee out tasks from the YHO’s yearly work programme and monitor its development;
- Convene General Assembly meetings and prepare materials for that purpose;
- Supervise proposals for the yearly report, financial plan and work plan for the following year; to be sent to members at least 30 days prior to the General Assembly, to be adopted;
- Propose candidates for distinction awards;
- Create job positions for Secretary Members and the corresponding salary based on YHO’s needs;
- Supervise the creation of the YHO budget;
- Peacefully resolve conflicts and give sanctions due to violations;
- Lead the procedures and pronounces the sanctions according to the disciplinary regulations;
- Decide on the address of the association;
- Appoint the Secretary General and the Legal Representative;
- Select the members of the Executive Committee.
The tasks of available specific positions within the Board are (according to article 34 of the constitution):
The President:
- Convenes and chairs the General Assembly, the Board, and the Executive Committee.
- Represents the organization.
- Carries out other tasks authorized by the General Assembly, bodies and the constitution.
- Reports her or his work to the General Assembly
Free Board members:
- Each Free Board Member is responsible to contributing to the general work of the Board
- Report their work to the General Assembly
- Can run for a position in the Executive Committee
Regional Coordinators:
- Each Regional Coordinator is responsible for their respective YHO region, which are proposed by the Board and confirmed by the General Assembly according to the relevant Bylaws
- Report their work to the General Assembly
- Can run for a position in the Executive Committee
YHO is organized into 3 Regions as follows: South and South-Eastern Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Western and Northern Europe with Global Members.

Candidates should be available during the upcoming 14th YHO General Assembly that will take place online on the 18th of December 2024 between 17:00 and 20:00 CET. Their presence is required for a short presentation, question and answer session with the Assembly members and elections.
