2nd International Youth Climate Summit: Uniting for Climate Action!
From 6th to 7th December 2024, the 2nd International Youth Climate Summit (IYCS) took place in Portorož, Slovenia, bringing together young activists, youth leaders, and experts from various fields of climate action. The event was part of the Sustainaware project, co-funded by the European Union. It provided a space for young people for dialogue, collaboration, and the development of innovative solutions to tackle climate challenges faced by our generation.

- Interactive workshops on topics of Gamification to Prevent Climate Change, Clean Air, Sustainability in NGOs and Climate Anxiety. Participants gained practical skills and explored solutions for their local communities.
- Presentations about environmental health, climate anxiety and power of gamification.
- Networking opportunities for young changemakers to connect with peers and organizations working in sustainability and climate action.

The Closing Declaration:
Together, the participants created the IYCS 2024 Declaration, highlighting their key actions needed to address climate change because everythings starts with ourselves.
Their commitment to action:
- learning about and implementing how to be more suistainable,
- similar strategies collaboration,
- buying in second hand shops,
- educating children and youth about the importance of sustainability,
- attending similar events,
- engaging more people in collaboration with the government.,
- being aware and implement change of their and communities carbon footprint,
- recognizing areas in participants’ lives that can be improved towar lower carbon footprint,
- identifying areas in participants’ lives for improvement to lower their carbon footprint,
- developing an understanding of resilience and strategies for climate adaptation,
- taking actions.
This youth-driven document serves as a call for collective, and sustainable action.
